It all started when I devised my own adventure walk from Robinsons Galleria to SM MEGA MALL to Shang rila Plaza Mall along EDSA. Including Glorietta Mall while not in that row in Mandaluyong, is easily accessible via MRT also on EDSA.

Sadly she passed away August 4, 2024. Mother Lily meant so much, not just to the film industry, but to the whole country. Then on December 27, I was privileged enough to photograph the MMFF Gabi Ng Parangal Awards Night where her grandson Keith Monteverde thanked and honored her during his acceptance speech. So I’d like to add that photo here. As a means of thanking her and recognizing her legacy.

–Then January 29th going to February 8th is considered as the Spring Festival. February 8th is the official Spring Festival date of celebrations.
–From Feb 9th onward are the preparations for the Lantern Festival celebrated on February 12th.

Avoiding the Chaos
In the Philippines or in Metro Manila in particular a lot of people naturally flock to Ongpin, considered as one of the oldest Chinatowns. The problem with it is the enormous crowd CNY generates causing traffic, congestion etc. There are people who enjoy that or are willing to endure the somewhat chaotic atmosphere. That’s Ok too.

At the GRAND ATRIUM, as early as January 24 (Friday), 6pm: they conducted the Feng Shui Talk by Venus Wang, Filipino Chinese Theater Dance Company, along with Merchant booths and activity areas. While covering this event last Friday, I was able to see Maxene Magalona, shooting the dance company with her cellphone.

DITO is a compelling story of an over the hill boxer (Eiji) trying to revive his career in the Philippines. Priorities change when his daughter (Momoko) from Japan tries to reconnect with him. Yuki Takashi plays the lead and is also the director. His daughter is played by Momoko Tanabe. Filipino cast includes: Mon Confiado, Lou Veloso, Buboy Villar, Lesley Lina and even a cameo appearance of ‘Pambansang Kamao’ Manny Pacquiao.
