Kim Chiu came out with the energy of a rabid Green Archer and Blue Eagle combined. She was screaming and cheering like a cheer dancer possessed. Seemed like SHOWTIME and ASAP producers were reigning her in from her true energy, her true performance. No one can blame her as even the Green Archers and Blue Eagles have recently come together to wear pink in support of Leni Kiko. Cebuana actress, singer Pinky Marquez was also onstage as a certified Kakampink.

Passion and Female Leaders
Kim attributed her enthusiasm to the passion Cebuanos are known for, “Kinsa nga ta Vice President? (Crowd: Kiko Pangilinan!) Leni Kiko! Kusog pa! kusog pa! Grabe Gimingaw kusog mo istorya ung Bisaya! Dili gyud magfail ang Bisaya Energy! Inhong sila kung syempre Bisaya ko diba? Kaya naman Maayong gabi Cebu City! Grabe dili gyud magfail! Ang mga gwapa, gwapo na Bisaya na diri karong gabi. Kim also made note of the performance of female leaders around the world as the best responders during the pandemic, “Female Leader, kabantay mo sa New Zealand, sa Iceland, sa Taiwan. Kinsa ang leader nidto? Babae o lalake? (Crowd: babae!) Very good sa history, good show. Babae, female leader, ang na ay pinaka paspas na Pandemic response. Sila ang nindot na pandemic response. Kina sila ay mother’s instinct. Mauna akong ganahan kitang tanan diri sa mga first time voters. Ako gyud encourage kang tanan. Na iboto gyud nato, para nata ay honest and good governance.”

VP Leni’s Projects in Cebu
VP Leni is widely renowned for having initiated countless programs that meet the needs of the people in rural areas. Be it livelihood programs or projects that meet their medical needs around the country.

In Cebu alone: “A total of 84 individuals, 70 families of indigent patients from 8 areas have received assistive devices such as wheelchairs, canes and hearing aides, care of Physicians for Peace Philippines. An even more touching story is where the OVP was able to put up a much needed mental health facility. There was a prevalence of mental health problems in San Remigio, Cebu after it was devastated by typhoon Yolanda in 2013. “It was during this time that Mayor Mariano Martinez realized there was a problem. With the help of Americares, an international NGO that focused on health, a community-based mental health program was launched. In February 2019, an Angat Buhay-funded mental health facility—the first of its kind in Northern Cebu—became operational. The facility was furnished with the help of Angat Buhay partner Solanaland Foundation Inc., while another partner, ANCOP Foundation USA, Inc., donated an X-ray machine and provided psychotropic medications for the patients.”

“From an initial count of 32 diagnosed mental health patients in 2016, the San Remigio Rural Health Unit has served 258 patients free of charge, some from neighboring municipalities like Medellin and Bogo. Cebuano Matters
Kim’s mastery of the Cebuano language and her usage of it to endorse the Leni Kiko tandem has far reaching effects. As the language is spoken in the Visayas region, even throughout parts of Mindanao. Cebu Province (by itself) is the highest ranked among vote rich provinces with 3.3 million votes. Cebu province includes cities: Cebu, Lapu-lapu and Mandaue with many more towns across the island.

She spoke to them heart to heart, not as a celebrity figure but as their kababayan (province mate), who is proud of her mixed heritage, “Dili ko artista, ganoon na nag istorya sa inyo. Ako si Kim Chiu Bisayang dako! Waray waray, Filipino Chinese na nag sulti sa inyo tanan. Na tabangan nato si Leni Robredo. Ok ba? Kidsa atong presidente? (Crowd: Leni Robredo!)

Prior to the rally, Kim received a video greeting from VP Leni herself which she posted on her Instagram: chinitaprincess. She cried tears of joy after hearing that VP Leni herself was inspired by Kim’s life.

Kim Chiu was a winner of the Pinoy Big Brother reality show in ABS CBN way back in 2006. She was a 16 year old joining auditions who was discovered by director Laurenti Dyogi in a food court of SM CEBU. The prestigious SM Supermall in Cebu was where the PBB auditions were held. Now she’s one of the biggest TV and film stars of the country with countless endorsements.

Birthday Charity Work
VP Leni praised Kim for her innumerable charity work. Kim has celebrated her birthday, every year by helping the less fortunate. This was stopped by the pandemic with lockdowns. Last April 19, she was back with a vengeance giving help to several groups across the metro.

Chowking tripled her original order of Chaofan and food packs. While she was able to donate wheelchairs, stretchers and Oximeters to the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong.
