IF you haven’t gotten vaccinated, the Omicron variant should encourage you to do so. Many establishments, work places will be requiring vaccination IDs soon here in NCR and everywhere else in the country.
IF you have been fully vaccinated for more than six months you are eligible to get your booster shot. Especially if you are a senior citizen or have comorbidities (high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and other serious ailments).

Although, that may also change as the DOH / IATF may allow those fully vaccinated to get booster shots earlier. This is depending on their adaptation strategy in preventing the spread of Delta and Omicron variants.
As of writing the FDA has approved the administration of booster shots to the country’s adult population. This is from a statement by FDA Director General Eric Domingo. From Philstar.com: FDA OKs COVID-19 booster shots for adults

Pfizer and Moderna Now Available
The good news for those unvaccinated, they are able to choose the vaccines from several manufacturers like PFIZER and MODERNA. Earlier in the vaccination program, (most Manileños for example last March to June), were forced in a way to get SINOVAC, because it was the brand readily available.

And what used to be long lines are now a more convenient wait. When the vaccination program started you could easily lose several hours to half a day, just falling in line. Now it can vary from 15 minutes to 2 hours at worst.

After successfully registering, go to your scheduled venue with your assigned QR codes and IDs along with other government issued IDs. So far, the malls have been for the youth and pedia vaccinations: 12-17 years old (1st dose). There are also A1 ( Medical front liners, their families, A2 and A3 categories getting boosters. But public schools have also been opened for booster shots of Senior Citizens and those who’ve been fully vaccinated (2 doses) 6 months prior. Check those same websites and announcements to verify.

SM San Lazaro, SM Manila, Robinsons Place Manila and Lucky Chinatown Mall.
Another motivation for people to get fully vaccinated are the many discounts restaurants, stores, brands are offering when you show your vaccination ID.

There’s almost no excuse for anyone to NOT get the COVID-19 vaccine. More and more vaccination sites will be opened up across the country. A total 8,000 more for the Nov 29- December 1 drive. Just in case you missed it there will be another nationwide drive on December 15-17.
Please be aware that there may also be vaccination dates in between. To find out, please check your local websites and barangays.

Mom Got Boosted
As early as November 24, 2021, I was able to accompany my mom to the nearest vaccination site: Justo Lukban Elementary School, in Paco, Manila. It was the same venue for her original 2 doses of Astra Zeneca, the last one being May 25.

This time she was able to get the Pfizer vaccine as her booster shot. We didn’t wait more than 15 minutes unlike the last time which took almost 2 hours of waiting. The line was far shorter. We also saw first dose vaccinations for 12-17 year olds, as well as Senior Citizens getting their booster shots.

The new Omicron variant is very much unpredictable. Getting a booster shot may help ensure that vaccines will work in minimizing hospitalization and death, if and when infected. So make sure you get vaccinated and make sure you get your booster after that!
